Mastering False Eyelash Application: A Step-by-Step Guide for Everyone

As someone who has always been adventurous with makeup, false eyelashes initially felt like a daunting challenge even for me. However, jane iredale’s Professional Faux Lashes caught my attention with their individual, customizable design, allowing for a natural yet dramatic look. With two different lash lengths to choose from, achieving crazy length and volume became a breeze. After a bit of practice, applying these lashes was surprisingly easy, and with the included latex-free and non-drying glue, the process was even more effortless. So, don’t hesitate to try them on a relaxed day, and revel in the glamour of gorgeous lashes while comfortably lounging in your PJs!

Ready? Let’s go!

  1. Arrange all your items on a desk or table and keep a mirror within reach.
  2. Gather your hair away from your face, and if you have bangs, secure them to the side with pins.
  3. Open the package and take everything out including the lashes and the glue.
  4. Lay out some paper towels
  5. If you have a lash curler, go ahead and curl them
  6. Apply mascara to your lashes and let it dry. If you are transitioning from day to night and already have mascara on, you can skip this step.
  7. Utilizing your tweezers, extract a few lashes from the disc and position them on the paper towel. Hold the lashes near the knot and delicately wiggle them loose, being cautious not to handle them too roughly to avoid potential damage.
  8. Uncap the glue and release a small dot onto your paper towel. While you have the option to dab the lash directly onto the glue wand, I personally prefer squeezing a small amount out and then sealing the glue tube, as it minimizes unnecessary movement.
  9. With your tweezers, take hold of a lash. This is where practice becomes valuable. Your grip should allow you to smoothly dab the knot into the glue and, without altering your hold, gently place the faux lash onto your lashes. I find that approaching from the front and grasping the lashes on the fringe yields the best results.
  10. Slightly lift your eyebrows and gaze downward into the mirror. If needed, you can rest your elbows on the table to steady your hands. In this position, you should only be holding the mirror and the tweezers with the lash.
  11. Now comes the surprisingly effortless part: place the lash above your desired location, ensuring the knot aligns right next to your lash line, and gently release it onto your lashes.
  12. Continue the process until you have applied all the desired lashes.
  13. After the application of the final lash, wait for thirty seconds before gently applying mascara to achieve a seamless blend.

If your tweezers get sticky from glue, you can clean them with alcohol. Remember, there’s no three-second rule with lashes; if you drop one on the floor, discard it. To remove your lashes, dampen a Magic Mitt or washcloth with warm water, press it to your lashes, and gently wiggle. If they haven’t come off, continue wiggling gently. False eyelashes are for single use only; once removed, dispose of them. As for their wear, I applied two lashes to the outer corner of my upper lash line at 1 pm while writing this blog. It took just eight seconds, and they went on perfectly. Now, at 4:17 pm (after some meetings), they’re still in place, looking natural, flirty, and dramatic. I can hardly feel them. Tomorrow, I’ll update you on how late they stayed on and their appearance when removed. Are you ready to give them a try?
